It’s a silk beauty parade as Labor considers solicitor-general pick

Two top Sydney silks are among a small field of lawyers being considered for the country’s top legal posting as the Albanese government prepares to appoint a replacement for former solicitor-general Stephen Donaghue.

Donaghue, who was appointed in 2017 after a career at the constitutional bar, ended an eight-year stint as the government’s leading court advocate in December and will take up a spot on the Victorian Court of Appeal.
